BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) -- Federal authorities say separate indictments were returned Friday against two postal employees for stealing mail from facilities in west Alabama.
35-year-old Rebecca Sue Johnston of Centre is charged in a four-count indictment with theft of postal funds. U.S. Attorney Alice Martin said in a statement that Johnston is accused of stealing mail on three occasions between August and September 2007.
She was also charged with witness tampering.
Also indicted was 39-year-old Tommie Joe Smith Jr. of Tuscaloosa. Martin said Smith faces an 18-count indictment that alleged he stole CDS and DVDs between June 2006 and April 2007.
