A man charged in the deaths of two
people in Tuscaloosa pleaded guilty to capital murder, moments
before his trial started.
28-year-old Zache Demond orton of Tuscaloosa entered a plea
deal Tuesday before Circuit Judge Charles Malone.
A contrite Morton told the judge he stabbed and beat to death
49-year-old Ronnie Miller and 34-year-old Terry Tyrone Barnes at an
apartment they shared on 15th Street.
The homicides occurred in March 2006.
In exchange for the plea, prosecutors agreed to recommend life
in prison without parole. But Horton’s sentence won’t be known
until after a mini-trial is held.
