Nearly two dozen Alabama firefighters are heading to the Pacific northwest, to help in dousing out wildfires.
22 Alabama firefighters have been re-deployed to Oregon, after being originally assigned to help in California.
Their orders were changed while they were enroute to California.
The crew is made up of nine USDA Forest Service firefighters, 11 Alabama Forestry Commission firefighters, one from the National Park Service in Alabama, and one from the Pelham Fire Department.
This is the prime season in Oregon for lightning strike fires, and that is what the Alabama firefighters will be dealing with.
These fire crews will be on assignment for 14 days before returning home.
