Apparent Drive-By Shootings Injures 2 In Jefferson County

Two people were shot in what was described as a “hail of gunfire.”
In a news release from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the 1700 block of Spring Villa Circle, where reports of gunshots were being heard at an apartment complex.
Deputies found 21 year old Cortney Montrez Gadsden laying in a doorway with a gunshot wound to the back.
Gadsden was taken to UAB Hospital and is listed in critical condition.
A second victim was found at St. Vincent’s East with a gunshot wound to the leg.
There were reports that shots came from two different SUV-type vehicles.
There were shell casings from at least four different weapons in the parking lot.
Deputies seized a shotgun and an AK-47 at the scene.
One person was taken into custody for questioning.
