ANNISTON, Ala. (AP) - Authorities are searching for two armed men who allegedly robbed an east Alabama bank and briefly abducted two women during a carjacking as they fled.
No one was injured in the holdup Wednesday morning, and the FBI distributed bank surveillance photographs of the suspects.
Police said two men entered a Wachovia Bank in Anniston wearing stocking masks and carrying guns. A bank employee was forced to open a safe at gunpoint, and the men fled in a green or teal Honda Civic.
Authorities said the men abandoned the Honda but kidnapped two women in a silver Nissan Altima. About 30 minutes later, the two men got out of the car at a cemetary in east Gadsden, leaving the two women inside. The women drove to the Glencoe Police Department for help. Police say the two women were not physically hurt in the carjacking.
