BIRMINGHAM:  County Commissioner George Bowman will not run for re-election.

Bowman failed to get enough signatures to qualify for the November election.  Governor Bob Riley appointed Bowman to the district one seat.  Larry Langford vacated the seat when he was elected Mayor of Birmingham.  The Supreme Court of Alabama forced a new election this fall.  William Bell was chosen to represent the democratic party. The election is November 4th.
