TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - A close call for a Tuscaloosa family.
Seconds after Darlene Knox left the front bedroom of her home to
step in the shower, she says a car slammed into the bedroom with a
noise like thunder.
A tow truck loaded up the silver Hyundai Elantra. Police had
been chasing the driver for speeding at the time of the crash
Friday.
Police Capt. Clay Gibbs says the Elantra jumped the curve at a
dead end, plowed over bushes and into Knox’s home.
The driver fled on foot. Police are trying to determine who the
driver was and who owns the vehicle, which did not have a license
plate.
Knox says her family canceled Fourth of July travel plans.
