BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - The Alabama Supreme Court has thrown out a $500,000 jury award that former state Rep. Eric Major won against the city of Birmingham.
Major won the award over his 2004 arrest and acquittal on charges he physically attacked his ex-fiancee.
The Supreme Court ruled Friday that Major did not prove his civil rights were violated. The court also said police had probable cause to arrest Major for third-degree domestic violence.
