JASPER, Ala. (AP) - A house fire overnight left a Walker County
man dead and his brother with serious burns.
The County Coroner’s Office said in a statement Wednesday,
firefighters responded to the fire call Tuesday at about 9:30 p.m.
The residential blaze on Highway 195 North killed 64-year-old
Thurman Harvill and critically injured 72-year-old Troy Harvill, a
cancer patient.
The corner said the elder sibling suffered burns to his back,
knee and feet. He was transported to UAB Hospital in Birmingham.
Authorities said the brothers had lived in the house, located
just north of Jasper, for 60 years.
Investigators have not determined how it started.
