FLORENCE, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say a Florence woman has been
charged in the death of her unborn child after medical personnel
determined the umbilical cord had been intentionally severed.
Florence police said 30-year-old Jennifer Darlene Johnson was
charged with manslaughter Monday morning.
Johnson was seven months into her pregnancy. Florence police
investigator Capt. Ron Tyler said Johnson was taken to Helen Keller
Hospital in Sheffield Friday night, where the baby was delivered
dead.
Tyler said hospital personnel determined the umbilical cord had
been severed while still in Johnson’s uterus.
Investigators believe the death of the infant is directly
related to the intentional cutting of the umbilical cord.
Johnson is being held on $50,000 bail.

If you do not want a child, there are ways to keep from getting pregnant. If you get pregnant and then decide you do not want the baby, there are plenty of families that would love to take the baby. The baby could have been left at the hospital after its birth and there would be no charges filed on the mother.  I hope that the penal system will sterilize her so she can never do it again.
