Franklin Co. father indicted for child abuse

A Franklin County grand jury has indicted a father for child abuse and first-degree assault.
21-year-old Raymond Matthew McKinney of Phil Campbell was arrested in January on charges he injured his 4-month-old son.
The two-count indictment was returned this month.
Investigators said the toddler was shaken and suffered a brain injury. The infant is recovering since his released from Children’s Hospital in Birmingham.
The defendant’s mother, Ruby Faye McKinney, also faces a charge of intimidating a witness.
A prosecutor said both cases will go to court in 2009.
