Being escorted in by armed police officers, Mayor Larry Langford unveiled what he called a “top secret” plan for funding city projects to a meeting of city business leaders.  After his meeting, the Mayor met with the media to give specifics of the plan.
The projects range from neighborhood street paving, redeveloping the Fair Park area, building a downtown trollie system to the dome stadium project.
In his “top secret” plan, the Mayor will use the $20 million being budgeted for the eventual expansion of the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex.
According to the mayor, the first payment for that expansion would not take place for at least 5 years and it would be more than enough to pay for his other projects.

Just when you thought he could not be any more fiscally irresponsible.  Borrowing from one fund to pay for other projects.....but no problem, the 1st payment is not due for 5 years......embarresment!!!!!
