A man charged in the beating deaths of
his parents in Montgomery has pleaded guilty to five counts of
capital murder.
Brent Springford Jr., entered the surprise plea deal Tuesday
before Circuit Judge William Shashy. In return for his plea, the
judge agreed to give Springford life in prison without the
possibility of parole.
Springford admitted killing of Winston Springford and Charlotte
Turner Springford, both 62.
They were bludgeoned to death on Thanksgiving 2004 in their home
in Montgomery’s historic Garden District. The bodies were found the
next day.
No motive was given.
Springford still must have a trial because it is a capital
murder case. Jurors are scheduled to hear the case Dec. 3.
