More Alabamians are gearing up to help in the on-going fight against wildfires in California.
A multi-agency team is sending a crew of wildland firefighters from Alabama to battle blazes in the northern half of California.
Nine of them are USDA Forest Service firefighters, 11 are Alabama Forestry Commission firefighters, one from the National Park Service in Alabama, and one from the Pelham Fire Department.
The crew will fly out Tuesday to meet up with four other 20-person crews in Tampa, FL, before heading out west.
Currently, 1,781 fires and 839,343 acres have burned since mid-June in California.
