Video: Murdered Bessemer firefighter laid to rest

Dozens of family members, friends and fellow firefighters gathered to pay their respects to slain Bessemer firefighter David Alan Oliver. Oliver was laid to rest early Wednesday afternoon the Highland Memorial Gardens. Friends and fellow fighters who attended the services describe Oliver as a man who was jovial and always ready to answer the call to help others.
The 49- year-old firefighter was found shot to death Friday in his Hoover home.
On Saturday, Hoover authorities arrested Oliver’s roommate, 39-year-old Randal Johnson.
Johnson faces a murder charge and is now being held in a Jefferson County jail.
Police have not release a motive in this case and a preliminary hearing for Johnson has not been set.
David Alan Oliver a 23 –year- veteran with the Bessemer Fire department is survived by his parents, Dan and Pat Oliver; a brother Michael Dan Oliver and Sister Donna Oliver Worley(Scott); along with a host of loving extended family members.
