Jefferson County Deputies were called out last night around 10:30 p.m. to an accident on Cavern Road in Trussville. The driver of the car apprently lost control and ran off the road.
According to deputies the car landed nose first in a large ditch, then flipped and rolled over several times. All three occupants were trapped inside.

Center Point Fire fighters had to cut the roof over the car to remove the occupants from the vehicle. Diane McCay of Pinson was pronounced dead at the scene. Her husband Marlin McCay was airlifed by Lifesaver helicopter to UAB. A third passenger Kenneth Ferns was taken by ambulance to UAB for treatment.

Early reports indicate the trio were returning home from watching a fireworks display. The Sheriff’s office is trying to determine who was driving the vehicle and if alcohol may have been a factor.
