Officers were on routine patrol in the 2300 block of South Park Road, when they heard several gunshots. The officers saw a white passenger vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed as it turned from South Park Terrace onto South Park Road. Police officers pursued the vehicle, but when they got behind it, the vehicle left the roadway and came to a stop in the grass.
Officers observed the victim, who was the driver of the vehicle, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Paramedics arrived at the scene and transported the victim to University Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead by hospital staff.
There were two other male occupants in the vehicle, ages 17 and 20, with the victim; however, they were not injured.
There have been no arrests or charges filed in the case. If there is anyone who has information pertaining to the case, they are encouraged to contact the B.P.D. Homicide Unit at 254-1764 or Crime Stoppers at 254-7777.
