BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - A 25 year old suspected robber was shot to death by the man he was trying to rob.

Police found Patrick Cortez Levert, 25, of Birmingham on the sidewalk being treated by paramedics for an apparent gunshot wound at about
7:45 p.m. Sunday.

Levert was taken to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

He and a 17 year old male had tried to rob the 39 year old victim at gunpoint, according to a police statement.

The man pulled a gun, then shot Levert and the teen.

Someone drove the teen to Princeton Baptist Medical Center where he was treated and released.

He is being held at the Birmingham City Jail.

The teen has not been formally charged.

Police initially said three people were injured by gunfire, but said Monday that only two were shot.

Now that’s the kind of gun control I like.  Patrick Cortez Levert…I hate it buddy but when you attempt to rob someone, this is the risk you take!  I wish every innocent citizen would carry a gun.
