UPDATE: Coroner Identifies Thursday Homicide Victim

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—- The Jefferson County Coroner’s office has identified last night’s murder victim as 31 year old Demetris Raines.
Raines was found shot to death in the alley behind the 4100 block of 39th Avenue around 8:30 p.m.
Raines’ death is the first murder case since a crew from the cable network show “The First 48’ arrived in Birmingham.
The murder is Birmingham’s 55th of 2008.
