Hoover Police To Hold Press Conference In Apt. Murder

HOOVER, Ala.—- Hoover Police will hold a press conference at 3 p.m. to announce charges filed in the murder of a grandmother Monday night.

52-year-old Dorris Bennett was shot while walking her dog only feet from her Grand at Galleria apartment.

Police were called there around 8:00 p.m. about a woman shot who wasn’t breathing.

Bennett was taken to U.A.B. hospital where she remained in critical condition until her death Tuesday afternoon around 3:30 p.m.

The press conference will be held the Police Department’s operation building on Lorna Road.

Chief Nick Derzis is expected to announce charges filed against two suspects taken into custody along Lorna Road near the I-459 bridge.

Bennett had just moved to Hoover from Montgomery six months ago to live with her daughter and granddaughter.
