Leeds murder suspect has mimimal criminal record

LEEDS, Ala.—- Court records show 27-year-old Michael Brandon Kelley has only traffic citations and a public intoxication conviction on his record.
Wednesday authorities announced Kelley is charged with killing 23 year old Emily Milling.
Friends anc co-workers found Emily Milling murdered on Monday.
Milling’s body was found in the woods off Markeeta Road in Leeds Monday night, only hours after Kelley entered the pleas in the unrelated case and received two years probation.
Milling’s father Larry Phillips, Leeds Police Chief Ted Cook and the U.S. Marshal Marty Keeley attended a press conference Wednesday announcing charges against Michael Brandon Kelley.
The coroner announced Wednesday afternoon Milling was strangled to death.
U.S. Marshals arrested Kelley around 2:00 a.m. central time in a Los Angeles County, California Days Inn.
Milling was last seen alive leaving the Central Club near downtown Leeds willingly with another person early Saturday morning.
The Central Club near downtown Leeds is the last location Emily Milling was seen alive.
Police will not say if Kelley is the person with which Milling left the club.
Based on court records, Kelley was pulled over in St. Clair County on September 13th and charged with public intoxication and oper container violations.
He pleaded guilty to both charges last Thursday.
Leeds Police Chief Ted Cook said they are working on extraditing Kelley to the St. Clair County Jail.
