ALABASTER, Ala.—- Carl Watts has lived his whole life in the Simsville Road community of Alabaster.

In fact he runs a diesel shop only feet from his childhood home where his 87 year old mother still resides.

Watts claims the days of leaving your doors unlocked are long gone and safety fears have increased in recent years.
Now city, county and federal officers recently raided a residence only feet from Watts front door.

They arrested 27 people and confiscated crack cocaine and a number of weapons.

Investigators claim the bust stems from a three month probe into street level drug dealers.

Watts says he believes the raid is a step in the right direction, but that law enforcement and the public need to stay vigilant.
