Weekend Road Closure On Highway 280

The Alabama Department of Transportation announces that there may be short-duration closures on U.S. 280 in the area around Wellborn Drive and Eagle Point Parkway between 5:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 19 and Sunday, July 20, as a utility company hangs transmission lines over the roadway.

Each closure will last about five minutes while lines are pulled across the highway. There will be utility company bucket trucks on each side of the roadway and in the median.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Department will assist with traffic control while work is under way. Motorists should use caution in this area and slow down, as in any work zone. Motorists might also want to consider adjusting their departure and arrival times, and consider alternate routes to avoid any potential delays.
