West Nile Virus Human Case In Jefferson County

The first human case of West Nile Virus in Jefferson County for 2008 has been confirmed.
In a news release from the Jefferson County Health Department, the Disease Control Division was notified that an 82 year old man contracted the disease.
The man lives in the 35218 zip code vicinity.
To date, no birds or mosquito pools have tested positive in Jefferson County.
Health officials say humans are most at risk between dusk and dawn for bites from mosquitoes known to carry the West Nile Virus.
