MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP)—Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John McCain won’t be the only presidential candidates listed on Alabama’s ballot Nov. 4.

The secretary of state’s office reports that Ralph Nader will definitely be on the ballot. It takes the signatures of 5,000 Alabama voters for someone other than a Democrat or a Republican to get listed on the ballot as an independent candidate. The deadline was 5 p.m. Friday.

Nader’s campaign submitted its signatures well before the deadline and has already had them verified.

Libertarian candidate Bob Barr’s campaign turned in nearly 8,800 signatures. They are still being verified, but a campaign spokesman predicts it will be more than enough to make the Alabama ballot.

The Constitution Party’s candidate, Chuck Baldwin, turned in more than 7,600. The Green Party’s candidate, Cynthia McKinney, did not submit signatures to get on the Alabama ballot.
