ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) - Former Auburn running back Rudi Johnson
saw a lot of teammates get into legal trouble during his days with
the Cincinnati Bengals.
That couldn’t have prepared him for the bizarre events that
happened in his first hours with the Detroit Lions.
Johnson said Wednesday that running back Tatum Bell, the player
the team waived to make room for him on the 53-man roster, took his
luggage from the team headquarters on Monday.
Bell said he took the bags, believing they belonged to a friend.
He said he never opened the bags and doesn’t have anything that
belongs to Johnson.
Johnson said a woman returned the bags to the practice facility
Tuesday evening, but that the contents were gone, including about
$200 in cash along with his ID and the credit cards.
He said that he did not plan to involve the authorities.
