Jackson State Predicted To Win ‘08 SWAC Title

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Southern quarterback Bryant Lee and
Prairie View A&M linebacker Zach East have been voted as the
Southwestern Athletic Conference’s preseason players of the year.
League coaches and sports information directors and selected
media members picked Lee for top offensive player of the year and
East for defensive honors.
The balloting was released Tuesday at SWAC media days in
Birmingham.
Voters predicted a rematch in the SWAC championship game. SWAC
champion Jackson State is the East Division favorite while
Grambling was picked to win the West again.
Alabama A&M and Southern each had a league-high nine players
earn spots on the preseason All-SWAC teams.
The Bulldogs had a high of six first-team selections. Southern
had five.
