TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Alabama running back Glen Coffee is skipping his senior season to enter the NFL draft.

The All-Southeastern Conference performer told the Mobile Press-Register on Friday that he’s “gone.“ He told the newspaper the NFL draft advisory board projected him as a mid-round pick.

Coffee is the second Crimson Tide offensive star to announce he’s turning pro a year early. All-America left tackle Andre Smith has also entered the draft.

Coffee ranked second in the SEC with 1,383 yards this season. An Alabama spokesman couldn’t immediately confirm Coffee’s decision.

This was probably forced out of Glen early. Next Saturday (January 17) is the deadline but today (January 9) is the biggest recruiting weekend of the year at Alabama. There will be other running backs in Tuscaloosa wanting to know about Coffee ! Will he be here and What are “my” chances ? If Coffee were to stay, these recruits might look more seriously elsewhere. It all falls together.  Look for more High School recruits to look toward Alabama. Good Luck to Glen Coffee and Andre Smith in the NFL Draft.
